Summary of Conditions

Condition of a firearm is a very subjective matter, though one has to try to qualify it for lists such as ours. Following is a summary of the condition grading that we use as applied to modern firearms.

N.I.B. - New in Box - Previously owned, but new and unfired in its original box.

AS NEW - As New - No more than a couple of rounds through it, though it probably does not have an original box.

EXC - Excellent - Fired, near new condition, may have a couple of small marks in the wood.

VG - Very Good - May have several small marks in the wood, and some blueing worn on the edges of the metal. May have some slight surface rust.

GD - Good - Solid working firearm. May have a few major marks in the wood, or a lot of small ones. Wood may have some cracks. Blueing usually worn on edges with some surface rust or small pitting.

FR - Fair - May need some replacement parts. Finish usually very rough looking. May have little blueing left, or major pitting.

PR - Poor - Very rough condition. Needs extensive work to finish, and may need several major replacement parts.

PARTS - Parts guns can be in any of the above conditions, but are sold for parts only. May be too rough to refit, or may be missing some part that is no longer available to make it function.
