Range Schedules

Note: We try to keep this schedule as up-to-date as possible, but sometimes the ranges will be closed without notice. Things such as malfunctions can force closures. The local Police force uses our firearms range for training, and due to the nature of police work, this time will usually come on short notice. However, this is usually conducted in the early hours of the morning (12:00 - 3:00am) so it does not often affect members. We apologize for any inconvenience due to unlisted events, and will try to keep abreast of them.

NOTE: Course date listings are provided here for information only. Course space is usually filled by the time course dates are set, so only pre-applied applicants will be accepted. Attention Range Users!

All steel-cored, steel jacketed or steel shot ammunition is

NOT PERMITTED

on the Colby Shooting Club Range

This includes most surplus 7.62x39 rounds, most of the MFS brand of ammunition, and certain other surplus or specialty rounds. If you do not know if your ammunition is steel jacketed or not, have one of the staff members check it for you. Do not shoot any ammunition on the range until you know for sure. A sample bullet may have to be pulled and sectioned to know for sure. If a magnet sticks to the bullet (not the case) of your ammunition, it is steel jacketed and cannot be shot on the range, even though the bullet may look like copper. While all ammunition will occassionally spark off the backstop, if you see a shower of sparks every time your bullets hit the backstop, the bullets contain steel. STOP shooting it immediately.
